Are you trying to manage photos with a phone or a PC?
Is the phone/PC on your home network; or accessing via the internet?
If a PC on your home network. . . .use your PC as “normal”; just reference the photo files on the NAS.
If PC on internet. . . . .not too many choices but to dial into your home network via VPN.
If a phone. . . .things get harder.
