I am forced to buy another nas drive now. We live in South Africa with unstable internet, so if the internet is off, the I can’t access my own data in my own home, on my own drive! I am not that clued up with NAS drives and every one says how great they are but then they did not buy a MyCloud Home NAS. WD should give the consumer the choice how to use their data! Won’t support WD anymore!

Totally agree with you .I live in China with unstable internet to US server.
As a multinational corporation,WD DONNOT CARE about people who live in other country,how to use their products!!! They live in their own world.

so WD are you gonna actually do something about this product or still carry on with this and doing nothing about it? as seems like plenty of people are not happy with this junk 
this has to be one of the worst products you have ever made and sold and i sadly bought 
pathetic really that you sell a product that requires an internet connection just to access my own files on my own network in my own home… and if theres no internet then dam lets not let you have access at all!! 
i perfectly understand if was outside my home and needed to access it but within my own network… really 
its time to realise this product is an utter failure and who ever your developer team are for this need to seriously rework this… it runs on android M for god sake so you cant say it cant be changed or improved 
obviously OS 3 would be nice but if this is not compatibility due to hardware reasons then at least start working on this custom android your using

Folks, speak loudly with your wallet. I am retiring the My Cloud I have used for 4 years and going with QNAP or Synology. Its clear WD does not want to be in the NAS (real NAS) business at this point. OS3 has not be updated for new features in quite a while. So unless you want to left behind its time to move on.

Or make it usable with more manual settings like full local mode, smb, ftp, ssh, cloud disable etc.
At the moment is is completely untrustworthy as a backup from even the simplest home user.

I fully agree. WD should provide the more usable WD MyCloud User Experience for My Cloud Home with SMB. The My Cloud Home platform does not work when the Internet link is slow or is down. The software appears to be sending a stream of data to some servers in AWS EC2.
WDSync folders frequently breaks and have to be re-synchronized. Imaging having to synchronize thousands of files whenever the synchronization association breaks and it does occur every time the WD Discovery client is updated.
All I need is a network storage. My Cloud Home is not it.

From for sights, I guess we gonna need all your help for getting this done like this. Change is coming but at first glance does not seem to be of the magnitude we are all waiting for.
