Performance issue with 1.06.16 for Live Plus

Since the new firmware my WDTV is not as responsive as it used to be. When I watch a mkv and I press pause or play there is a delay of at least 2-3 seconds now while it used to be instantaneous. Same thing if I press the option button, there is a delay before it appears and if I change the audio stream or subtitles there is a delay of at least 2-3 seconds before the new setting is applied. It also takes longer for a mkv to start streaming.

It is not a deal breaker and I won’t downgrade but it is obvious the device is not responsive now. I’ll admit it is quite annoying though. I guess it might be a bug, I don’t think the software requires so more processing power now than the current hardware can give but only WD engineers know. It really “lags” badly and is not really responsive at all.

I know there was a fix to make the menus more responsive related to background tasks (I never had this problem though so I cannot comment) but could it be now that these background tasks are executed while a mkv is playing? (not really a good idea)

Could you please take a look at the response time of the device?

You could try an ‘overkill’ reset.

Press the side paperclip button for a few seconds and then release with the unit fully booted up.

Reset to factory defaults via the internal menu.

Unplug from power for some minutes - not seconds.

It may help and its quick and simple to try.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately it didn’t fix the problem but it seemed to have helped. It is hard to give exact numbers but I would say that before that firmware delay was 0 second (so no problem, unit very responsive), after the firmware update the delay was 2-3 seconds and now after the full reset like you suggested the delay seems to be 1-2 seconds so there is still an issue but not as bad as before.
