I backup automatically daily to My Passport. Since there is less room on the Passport than in my computer, it looks as if my data is completely backed up each day, not just the new files. Can this be true? Then could I delete previous backups and keep only the current one?

When you say backup make sure the Passport isn’t the only copy if your data. A backup is a second copy on a different device. Many people mistakenly think moving data to an external drive is a backup and don’t have a second copy.
