Partitioning for Mac & PC

Hi, I was told that it was possible to partition a Western Digital hard drive so I could use it on both a Mac and PC with no issues. I have a 1TB My Password and I want to split it 50/50. Right now I’m on a Windows XP machine, but it will be used on OSX as well. What are the steps to make this happen? I’ve looked around but can’t seem to find a clear answer.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

The simplest way is to format FAT32 the downside is the max file size is 4 gig both can use that. You can leave it formatted NTFS (for Windows) and down load this app NTFS-3G from Apple check out this link http://community.wdc.com/t5/External-Drives-for-Mac/WD-My-Book-Elite-Using-on-a-Mac-amp-PC/m-p/92308#M1894  see post 6 You can also partition it I think. I don’t know about Mac and not exactly if there will be any complications.
