Partitioning an Advanced Technology EARS Green Drive:

I would really like to utilize a 2-TB EARS Drive in a Multi Boot environment, i.e.:

Partition #-1 Windows XP-Pro

Partition #-2 Windows Vista Ultimate

Partition #-3 Windows 7

With what I have read on the WEB so far, “it could be iffie”.

I believe I would first have to use the Acronis Alignment Tool and “then” Partition with XP-Pro.

I would then use Acronis to “clone” from the “old” XP-Pro Drive to Partition #-1 on the “new” Drive.

I would then use Acronis to “clone” from the “old” Vista Drive to Partition #-2 on the “new” Drive.

I would then use Acronis to “clone” from the “old” 7 Drive to Partition #-3 on the “new” Drive.

My concern is the “unknowns” associated with the new EARS Technology.

I’d like to do it right the first time.

Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Mike Lynch

FYI - WD will not offer Installation Assistance in a Multi Boot Environment.

I would not recommend a Green drive for a boot drive.  I’d go with something like a Caviar Blue or even Black drive.
