my external hard drive can be safely removed and the computer managed to read it, but the partition is not showing up, what am I supposed to do to fix it without losing the data?

it’s not showing, it was working for the past 2 years. and one day I plugged it in. and it appears in the " Safely remove hardware and eject media " that exists in the tool-bars. but the partition does not appear.
