Partial Backup: remaining files will be added later / The file or directory is corrupt & unreadable

Possibly I created this problem by saving a file and  going to WD back up with out sufficient delay in between.  All of the files that are not backed up and now labeled The file or directory is corrupt and unreadable are prior existing documents that I have opened and added one or more key strokes to. I have downloaded text from e-mail attachments and cut and pasted from a web page and made no changes to them and the back up works properly for them. I have no partitions or additional users established.

My operating system is Windows Vista Service Pack 2

My product name is My Book Essential, WD Smart Ware Version 1.6.2, WD Quick View 3.1.7.5, WD Drive Service 1.6.0.6, Firmware Revision 2.018, Product I.D. No. 1110. I only have Documents, Other and Pictures selected for backup.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide that will allow the system to back up what has grown to 29 files  since August 2012 to the present that are not backed up.

Hi, where are you seeing the message “The file or directory is corrupt and unreadable”? On you computer or on the smartware interface? If you are getting the message from windows, it might be a data corruption problem, to recover your files you can use recuva or testdisk. After you recover your files you can reformat the my book and start a new backup.

I’m seeing it on the Smart Ware panel.
