OS does not recognise my drive

The HDD was working perfectly since I brought it., except for not properly ejecting(the drive seem to be used by OS even if I do not use it, this was only for the last one or two weeks). Yesterday, when I tried to copy some files, windows does not copy them, it simply shows the copy dialogue box with “Calculating” for the speed, items remaining etc.So I cancelled and tried again, same problem. I disconnected the drive because Saftly remove option fails, after two or three attempts, it shows only one partition(I have partitioned it to three partitions), that too cannot be accessed, accessing it will cause Explorer to hang. Connecting the drive seems to slow down my pc, so I connect it to a Linux distribution and checked. The OS recognizes the drive, but it cannot mount the partitions except one, that too cannot be accessed. After some attempts, I could format it and all my data inside it was lost, but it seem to be working fine now. I want to be sure whether it will fail in near future or not, because I use this drive to store some of my data which does not have any backup. I will give the results of WD Data LifeGaurd Diagnostics when I complete the test.

Here might be some more information Superuser.

Some background:-

Drive: WD Elements 1 TB portable(About 2 months old)

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1(May use Linux Mint sometimes).

Hello,

Based on the test result you have posted, it seems the drive has too many bad sectors and has failed the test. I recommend you try writing zeros to the drive, and if the issue persists then it is time to replace it.
