Hello - new to the forums (first post) and looking for some guidance.
I had up until recently been using a MyCloud 3TB unit. Things were working great for a while, until about 2 months after the manufacturer warranty expired. At that point the unit would no longer boot up. Long story short: the circuit board inside the enclosure seems to be the problem. I have since removed the enclosed HDD (WD Red) in hopes to use it as a standard external drive.
However, I have now tried two separate USB enclosures, each of which seem to be incompatible with the Red. I am able to mount the drive using a SATA to USB adapter, but not via a USB enclosure.
This leaves me with my question; is the Red only compatible in NAS enclosures? Do I have any other options for this drive?
Looking for any guidance or pointers.
