Optical audio out not working?

I have a WD TV HD and am experiencing issues with sound - (isnt everybody :frowning: )

Now I consider myself to be quite good with tech gadgets but this has me stumped.

When trying to play a MKV file with DTS soundtrack I found my optical out appears to be not working ?

I have the optical out connected to my panasonic surround sound dvd player ( definitely supports DTS ) and I have no sound.

I have changed the audio out setting in WD TV HD menu to “digital”

I have tried none DTS audio files too and they wont output to the Optical out either.

Whats going on ?

I too can’t get any sound from any media type. I’ve tried every lead configuration but nothing seems to help.

Thinking about sending it back.
