I have a new pc Win 7 and would like to transfer pics, music, docs, etc. to the new PC from the older one. I have already backed up the old pc, so how do I transfer from WD Passport to new PC?
First make sure you have TWO COPIES! I mean copy not move the data from the old PC. Then connect to new PC and copy. If you move all the data to external and have some problem getting new PC to recognize drive, possibly corruption then your data will be inassesible. If it’ a copy you could reformat drive and copy and try again. If the 2PCs are networked you can copy over network also. There are alot of posts where people moved everything to an external and had problems and lost their data. Any drive can die any time so never trust important data to just one.
