Old Passport Essential...New Windows 10 computer

I have an older Passport Essential (circa 2005-2006) that works fine on my laptop that runs Windows 7 but I am having trouble with my new lptop that runs Windows 10.  When I pull up the SafeGaurd menu to review files it says that MSVCR71.dll is not installed.  I also have it password protected so I really need teh menu to pull up.  I assume that this is a driver of somer sort and part of the older Windows OS, but not on the new OS.  Can anyone help?  I can get through instructions to install or pull something up but am not real tech savy when it comes to driver requirements.  Thanks!

Jim

Hello and welcome to the WD community.

Strange that this happens, normally if a driver is required by the Operating system it should try to search for drives on the system. Does this happen when you connect the device ? You could try to install the ESE drivers, this is the closest thing to a drive you can get on the WD support site since USB devices normally get automatically installed, here is a link to SES drivers download :

Hope this helps.
