I have a very old My Book, the model number is WDBAAG0010HCH-01 1111B. It might be a My Book for Mac or a My Book Essentials, I can’t remember. I have not used it since 2015. When I turn it on, the light blinks several times and then comes on steady, and I can hear the HD spinning up (or a fan?). Neither my old Mac G4 laptop nor my contemporary Windows 11 laptop see the My Book. I am using a brand new mini-b USB cable, so it’s not the cable. Anything I can try before taking this to a data recovery shop?
