My external hard drive fell on the floor, but didn’t fall far (maybe a foot) and landed on a soft surface (the rug). But the usb cord was ripped out of the external hard drive and snapped the little metal piece that it connects to right out of it. Now I can’t get nothing. Can’t get any type of reading. Even took the hard drive out of black plastic case and put it INSDIE my computer where the original hard drive goes. NOTHING. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really really really need to recover my music and pictures, but more importantly, I write and my stories are on it.
It’s probably physically damaged and beyond do it yourself fixes. If this drive came with Smartware it is hardware encrypted by the board that the USB port broke off. If you are considering professional recovery don’t try any more.
