Can anyone tell me the difference between WDBA3A0050BBK-WEBB and WDBA3A0050BBK-WESN? The model available locally at Walmart is the WEBB, while I currently have the WESN. I need to buy another, and wanted to make sure they are mostly the same before purchasing.
Thanks in advance!
Hmmm… hard to say.
On the surface they appear to be the same unit. Searching on the WEBB model number brings up hits from Walmart and other retailers (and WD). The others actually list the WESN, only the Walmart shows WEBB.
Often, retailers will have different SKUs for the same unit to tell where they were purchased. I had a laptop with a failing drive. When contacting the drive manufacturer for replacement, they were able to determine that the drive came from Dell (OEM) and told me to contact Dell for replacement. The Dell warranty had expired but the drive warranty had not at that time.
Looks like the warranty is the same from Walmart as it is direct from WD so that shouldn’t be an issue.
Hi Tjhennly,
The difference between WEBB and WESN is just the SKU, which indicates where the product is sold. WEBB is likely specific to Walmart. The drives should be the same in specs and performance. As long as the warranty matches (which it seems to), you’re good to buy it.
