Not sure about Red or Green

Hi,

I have to buy two internal drives and I’m not sure if I should buy red drives or green drives. The first one is for storage on my personal computer and the second one is for backup in my home server.

For now, I used Green drives in my computer and Red drives for my server and I would like to know if it should stay this way or if I can buy the same color for both. They will never be use for raid and I read somewhere that red drive should not be use in a non-raid setup, that’s why I’m asking.

Hello,

If you allow to advice you, for storage you can use the green drive since is designed for it.

WD Green hard drives are designed for use as secondary drives in PCs, for external enclosures and other applications for which low noise and low heat are beneficial.

And to backup your home server you can use the WD Red

WD Red hard drives are designed and tested for compatibility in the unique 24x7 operating environment and demanding system requirements of home and small office NAS.
