Pretty simple, i have rebooted several times, disconnected any other potential users and still i have not been able to delete folders, it gives me the error, “the operation can not be completed because the item” is in use.
and half the time it is not the name of the folder i am trying to delete.
Make sure you have the latest firmware. He may also have it joined to a domain. If so, join it to a Workgroup and see if the problem continues. If so, sounds like a possible bad unit.
Another possibility is that a antivirus or other program is scanning the network and keeps the drive or files busy. I had this happen once when I had a mapped network drive and Norton started scanning network maps
