The instructions indicate the wireless setup utility should launch immediately after selecting the desired language, but I get the home screen on mine. There are no options in the Setup =>Network setup to setup the wireless network. How do I get the WDTVL to connnect to wifi?
This is a new and non-refurbished Wifi enabled version.

Defective?
In Setup\Network Settings there is the options to choose Previously Connected Wireless… or Check Connection.
No, no e-net cable connected, and there are no options for previous wireless connections in the check connection page. In fact there is no indication of this device supporting wifi in ANY of the user interface. but it does in the packaging materials (new from Amazon)
So when you go to SETUP / NETWORK SETTINGS / NETWORK SETUP … You dont see WIRED / WIRELESS selection at the bottom of the menu? Then Go to SETUP / ABOUT / DEVICE INFO… Click OK… What does the part number say?

No WIRED / WIRELESS option in that menu. Just says ”select connection mode” Automatic / Manual
Part # WDBHG70000NBK
Thanks for helping

Well, that is the correct part number for the WiFi-included Live SMP…
I would suggest you exchange it for a new one. I can only guess that it is defective.
Maybe there is confusing data out there, google WDBHG70000NBK and some pages show the WDTV Live Media player and another the WD TV Live Streaming Media Player. This doesn’t help ebmace but is it possible he has the former which requires a wi-fi dongle, his user manual should confirm which one.

WDBHG7 signifies the SMP. You can’t rely on a Google search of the serial number to return the correct info.
As TonyPh12345, I would look at returning it.
Although, have you tried manually updating the firmware. You can get from HERE, along with instructions. You need to check and make sure that this is not the version already on the SMP. You can find out by going to Setup/About.
The current WD TV Live Streaming NTSC version being sold has the part number of: WDBHG70000NBK
It does have built in wifi. I got one a little over a week ago.
There should be a sticker on the unit with the serial and part number.
If you do not have it hooked via a wire and it does not give you wireless options then the unit is defective.
Thanks all. WD cust support confirmed it should have wifi and its not working. Amazon already shipping a replacement. You guys are great here, I really appreciate your involvement.

That’s good to hear, so enjoy the smp when you have set it up.
Did the new one work? I’m getting the exact same problems two months later and after reading your posts have requested a replacement. But only after 3 days of trying to get it work!!!
I have a WD TV LIve Streaming for a few months now.
The other day the box froze while accessing a network share that gone offline, and had to pull the power plug to get WD TV working again. Then it happened.
The box did not connect to the internet after power cycle, and wireless menu was missing from network setup. First tried to factory reset from menu, for no avail. Tried factory reset again, no help. Then I powered it off, and while pressing the reset button on the bottom of the appliance powered it on again.
I do not know which of my actions helped but then the Wireless menu reappered. So it might be a firmware problem.
