No DNLA or Ethernet Backup

I’ve just “upgraded” from MyClouds (with no OS number) on the understanding that I would be able to:

  1. Copy the contents of my old servers to the new directly over my Ethernet network
  2. play my music collection on a DNLA compliant device
  3. arrange backups of the new server to another NAS on my Ethernet network
It seems that one cannot do any of these with the EX2Ultra OS5. The backup seems to be aimed at backing up TO the EX2 not FROM it. As all my files are on the EX2 anyway for security reasons, there is nothing to backup from my laptop. However, I still need to backup to somewhere and using The Cloud rather defeats the object of having MyCloud.
I’ve read the threads about installing TWONKY and all the hassle involved in registering with them and getting it to work. It’s 2022. We’ve had plug and play for years. Does anyone have any idea how to install this functionality without a degree in computer science? The original MyCloud was better than this. At least you could set all this up from the dashboard.

I certainly agree. I do not know how many conversations I have had with WD support over this issue. My old os 3 device is still plugged in an working perfectly. The support phone people alarming point to flex as a media server. I justed asked who wrote the media software in os3. I could not get a straight answer. I have installed Twonky but the linux hierarchy of folders is confusing therefore my need to get to the twonky board. I cannot get in there either. Seems like WD has done it self a disservice. However i have gotten Twonky to work. I am interested in seeing what I have on the new ExUltra is seen my my roku media player app and it is. Still not sure if I am sharing for the correct folder in Shared folders under Twonky tho.
