No connection and a disturbing sound

#1

I have bought a “My Passport Elite” 640GB.
The last few weeks I’ve collected all my data on that drive.
Just as this operation was finished the drive stopped working.
The LED lights up and I can feel the drive spinning around.
But the drive is not recognized in either Windows XP or Windows 7
In the list of active drives it does not appear.
I have tried on several computers.
I have also tried a new cable.
Nothing I have tried has solved the problem.
HDD doing a little disturbing sound.
Each round ends with a little click.

If I have to choose to get a new drive on the guarantee, or access to my valuable data, I would clearly choose data.

Therefore, I have considered splitting the drive, but on this homepage I have seen that it will not provide access to neither ATA nor SATA. These are the only ones I can use as an ordinary consumer.

I really need help.

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
