No Audio while using HDMI connection to Onkyo 7.1 HT system

I’m facing this problem wherein sometimes the Audio is completely missing (video plays fine) when I play DVD contents on my USB drive connected to my WD LiveTV Plus (bought just 3 months ago) and further connected to my Onkyo 7.1 HT system thru’ HDMI cable (supports HDMI 1.3). This is a random, but quite an annoying behavior! I’m not sure what’s causing the problem! Same content would sometimes play perfectly! I’m not able to consistently reproduce the problem. Also, I’m not sure what the solution is - sometimes, a complete switch-off & restart would work, but not all the times! Does this require any firmware upgrade on my WD Live TV Plus?

I also have this problem. In the middle of watching an AVI the audio will just quit. I can switch to a different folder and those files will play with video and audio. Usually when this happens, all the files within the folder that will not play audio are also silent. I hate this! I even bought a NAS drive thinking it could be a Windows 7 problem. When I first bought the unit, this never happened. I suspect it was caused by a firmware update. Turning the unit off and on does not always correct the problem.

Does anyone know how to fix this???

 I forgot to mention: I am connecting directly into a Samsung LCD TV through an HDMI cable. I had the same problem with a Philips LCD TV as well.
