Newbie cant get any video files to play!?

I have just bought my first media player today, the WD TV LIVE new model. I am connected via wireless and have had two updates straight after connecting. I then plugged in my WD elements 1tb and the files were there for all to view on the UI. I then try to play and all of the files freeze after a couple of seconds. I think and hope it is me being completely useless when it comes to computers and this sort of thing and I have missed something basic in the set up procedure. I am using this to view files that I have downloaded from VIDEOBB website. They all play perfectly on my little Acer Aspire netbook  from the Elements h/d but no joy through the media player…HELP!   (I am UK based)

Chances are one or more of your downloads are unsupported formats.

If you play certain unsupported videos, it will crash the renderer process on the box, making it impossible to play anything else until you reboot the box.

Thanks for the quick response. The fils are AVI, XVID ithink and I thought they were meant to be supported. How do I reboot to try again. The thumbnails have all the episode info, pictures etc so obviously picking up everything from file just not playing.

The files are xvid-fqm, would renaming them - xvid.AVI for instance change anything?

How do you reboot?   Unplug it and plug it back in.

As to the media, Please post the full TEXT output of MEDIAINFO for such a file.

Thanks for your time. I will do as you say with regards to MediaInfo and let you know. Thanks again I really am new to this as you can tell but we all have to start somewhere!

TonyPh12345 and anyone viewing!

I used the mediaInfo dwnld and got this. Looking at other posters I think this is what your after.

Some of the files are this and some are Xvid-FEVER. I understand that the ‘fqm’ and ‘fever’ would be the group uploading files?
