New WD My Passport ultra not detected on pc and mac

Hello everyone,

I bought a new 1TB passport ultra today.After unboxing, i plugged it into my PC(windows 8.1) The light on the HD turned on, but nothing is projected in “my computer”.I tried it on mac book pro as well, but no sign of any external device.

I checked the device maganger as well.Nothing is shown under disk drives(i even tried “show hidden devices”).

Please help

If you have tried different computers and operating systems, then perhaps we should unfortunately consider the possibility of a faulty unit and should be replaced under warranty. You should be able to directly process an exchange with the retailer that sold you the unit if it has been less than 30 days. On the other hand you are also able to process a replacement using WD’s RMA system:
