I just picked my 4TB and haven’t even opened it yet…I don’t want my wife to know I have this, and she will know within a day or 2 if I hook it up to the modem in our house. Question is, can I hook it to my friends modem at his house and use the features as though it were hooked up at my house?
Yes and no. The NAS allows for remote access, which will be the case if the NA is at your friend’s house and you access it from your house. But remote access is by far not as convenient and fast as local access. If you are OK with downloading, using, uploading approach for files, and you are patient, then remote access is fine, unless you and your friend have a top notch internet service level.
