This is really nice, I’ll try it immediately.
i do not see a link anywhere to download this update?
you must force the refresh of the update list
→ microsoft media server module
→ microsoft media renderer module
but after install an reboot , i don’t see a visual difference
update : I can see the new icon in the media streaming option
I have installed W7 SP1.
But - and forgive me for being a noob - where am I supposed to see that WDTVLiveHub icon, and what’s it’s function?

You will find the icon in Network.
the 1st icon to access the hub link this:
The Second icon to access the TWONKY media
I forgot to add this:
When you double click on your Network icon you’ll find the following icon for the hub
the last two icons for the HUB.
This feature has always been available, I’ve had it on my Win7 machine for ages and I’ve no installed SP1
The Feature was there, but the icons are new… at least for me
I installed both of these updates, rebooted and nothing changed, i can’t see new icons in network.

If you didn’t see them before, you won’t see them now. All Microsoft added where the icon graphics and some Manufacturer Specific data tags. If you didn’t see them before, something’s wrong with your Media Player settings in Win7.
Didn’t see what?
I assume from first post that these two icons should look differently now, no?
