New to my cloud and have questions

I have a my cloud that is new even though they are becoming obsolete. I’m trying to understand a few things even though I’m old. If I’m the admin should I set up a user I’d for myself to save my data? I’ll also set up a user name for my wife. We both run MacBooks.
