I have just purchased a unit of My Passport. Can someone tell me what software or utilities I should download from WD website to get before using the external drive? Do I need to buy a rubber cover to protect the drive?
You don’t need to download software from WD website. Just plugged in and copy files you wanted to the drive. You may also install software included in the external HDD. I don’t recommend SmartWare though. My computer became very slow.
It’s recommended to buy a rubber cover especially if you tend to be careless
