I bought a 4TB My Book Live Duo a few days ago, and want to set it up but none of my computers have cd drives, and I was wondering:

1: What files do I need to set it up

2: Is it better setting it up on a win 7 or win 8 machine

3: Should I check for a firmware update before I do anything anyway, and where would I find it?

1- no cd required.  You don’t need to install anything on the PC to get it working.

2-  Either one…

3-  It will find its own firmware updates automatically thru the UI.

You can go to wd.com\setup

From there you can download the setup software for the Duo.
