I’m on an OS X 10.6.4 system and SOOO glad to see AFP finally. Here my quick test of the new firmware.
OK running 2.1.96 WD Sharespace (4tb, raid 5) static IP connected via an Airport copying (wireless) a 618mb folder with 6 files took me.
Copy to local HD took: 3.27 mins
Copy to Sharespace: 3.40
FTP download to computer: ave 2.1mb/s
FTP upload from computer: ave 2.6 mb/s
After firmware (internet update, no issues) and factory reset (good to have data backed up, oh and it took like 18hours) copying the same folder. Logged in under AFP.
Copy to local HD took: 1:08 mins
Copy to Sharespace: 57 sec.
FTP download to computer: ave 10.7mb/s
FTP upload from computer: ave 6.6 mb/s
WOW. It is definitely faster then it has ever been in my opinion. Very very happy with it now. Next I’m going to try setting it up as a raid 1+0 and see what it will do.
