Hello forum,
My brand new WD Elements 4TB external desktop hard disk vibrates and sounds like an air compressor recharging when idle, and doesn’t go to sleep for ~40 mins after being idle. It does’t make that noise when actually reading and writing, but if writing a large file, it will sometimes do the air compressor and stop all reading/writing activity, and then resumes after a while.
Is it defective? Shall I contact the retailer?
