Just got bought a new WD Easytore external drive. I want to add a access password to the drive before I do anything else. But I cannot because my computer login password is not accepted when it is asked for. I’ve downloaded the WD Security and the WD Discovery software and then when I am asked by both for my password, it is not accepted by either software.
I am assuming it is my computer login password that is required.
Why is this happening and what is the solution. Looked online but found nothing to help me.
There is no factory reset password. It is the password that you set up or someone else setup.
The only way to able to use the drive again is to format the drive and lose all the data.
This is very poor WD. If I cannot open EASYSTORE to delete out old backup reports…then I cannot continue to use it…right? I have NO record of an EasyStore password and I have NOT signed up for any ‘Security’ type program. Did WD do this itself? Someone must be able to fix this…or maybe not…eh?
