New computer

I just got a new hp laptop, I just want to make sure that I wont lose the data in my book and that I will have access to it if I unplug it from the old pc and into the laptop

just make sure that you safely remove the drive first.

Make sure you still have the data on the old PC until you can move it from external to the new one. You need 2 copies of important data to be safe. One copy is not a backup.
