Hi,
I just realised I never received the 20% discount email.
Despite receiving 6 emails between Oct and Dec '21 telling me about support ending for my device, I didn’t receive the discount email.
Anybody else not receive theirs?
How can I go about getting it? I looked at opening a support ticket but none of the options were appropriate to my problem!
Many Thanks.
WD typically emailed people numerous times with the 20% discount code. Personally received a total of 10 emails with the code between 1/18/22 and 4/15/22. Search your emails including spam/trash/deleted emails for the subject line; “Support is ending, help protect your My Cloud device now” or search the body of emails for; " As promised, here’s an exclusive 20% discount coupon* that you can use toward an eligible device".
In any event WD indicated the code was apparently only valid for 90 days. It’s been 127 days (as of this post) since April 15, 2022.

To help make this easier on you, we’ve sent a 20% discount coupon1 to customers who own devices that aren’t compatible with My Cloud OS 5. We sent the coupon through email on January 15, 2022. You don’t need to return your current device to take advantage of the offer, and the code will be good for 90 days.
More than a few people, after seeing which WD devices their discount code was eligible for (see link above), decided to forgo buying a WD replacement product using their 20% discount code and went with another manufacturer’s product/NAS. For example first gen single bay My Cloud users discount code was only good on a My Cloud Home (8TB) or a My Book (12TB). The My Cloud Home, many have discovered after purchase, has its own issues and limitations, and the My Book line is an external USB hard drive not a network attached storage device (NAS).
I have a few NAS boxes. . .being a data hoarder. . . .and I also found the WD offers being “non-compelling”.
20% off MSRP for a manufacturer selling direct is not much of discount - - → and the choices were SEVERELY limited. As Bennor indicated; the 12TB MyBook (I have more than one) is not a NAS; and the Home product line. . . .advertised as a NAS. . . .is not a NAS.
