Network Share issues with WDTV Live + and Windows 7

I just had to replace my last desktop with an HP Pavillion/Windows 7/64-bit. My previous computer worked fine with my WDTV Live+, now not so much. I’ve attempted to utilize all of the suggestions out there, but none of them seem to be working. I will provide the links for the ones I’ve tried:

Some of the suggestions are contradictory from each other (ie., set Work Network vs Home Network), but I’ve tried them all, or at least the ones I’ve seen.

Homegroup is disabled.

In CMD I found the  _MSBROWSE_ is under my HP.

WDTV Live+ IS connected to the network.

Both desktop and WDTV are labeled the same for WORKGROUP.

I am able to see my MAC laptop on WDTV, but no files.

I installed PS3 Media Server and the media folder I want to share does show up on WDTV via the PS3 media share. (I don’t want to depend on the Media Share, as it doesn’t play all formats)

I have restored WDTV to factory settings and uploaded the most current version, as of 09/18/2012.

I have Norton 360, with Automatic Printer/File Sharing Control “off” in the Firewall Settings.

I also have NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled.

I would appreciate any and all recommendations. I am, seriously, pulling my hair out now. :womansad:

I’m guessing that you checked all the setting on the new computer? I mean something is different now.

The previous computer, what was the OS?

In the new computer did you check the Advanced sharing settings? Make sure that you sharing the folder on the network.

Make sure that the network discovery is on and things like that.

I needs to be something on the new computer.

I agree with you, it has to be- I just can’t seem to figure out what.

The previous computer, what was the OS?

Vista

In the new computer did you check the Advanced sharing settings? Make sure that you sharing the folder on the network.

_ _Yes, I am able to see the folder via PS3 media.

Make sure that the network discovery is on and things like that.

_ _I followed both of the differing ideas on this (the links I posted had to do with this).

I needs to be something on the new computer.

Any more ideas? Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Check and see if “Windows Live Essentials” or “Windows Live Sign-in Assistant” are on your machine. They are known to block WDTV devices (Start → All Programs).

AFAIK, this hasn’t been an issue for almost two years.
