Network issues with WD Live TV

Hi, I have a WD Live TV 2011mediaplayer and i’m having issues with my home network, yesterday I tried to connect to my win7 pc, but all it showed was an empty page, connecting through the windows-network-share didn’t find anything, it only showed a searching icon.

It always worked for me, I haven’t changes the share drives, they are still shared where EVERYONE has reading rights. When i go on the pc I can connect to my WD Live TV through the manual IP I entered (same for automatic) on the player. So it’s definitely connected in the home network.

What I tried furthermore:

  • Reset
  • Power cord of multiple times
  • Network cable out and in
  • Reset to factory defaults
  • checked settings for sharing on win7, should be good

I haven’t used the device in a while and the big difference from then and now is that I have a new fiber connection, the mediaplayer is connected directly to the new router. The pc on the other hand is now behind a Netgear hub, and that one is connected to the router. Before all these changes the pc was also connected directly to the old router. Could the hub causing the issue? I’ll try to connect it directly tonight just to be sure. If that is the case, how to solve this? Appreciate the help!

PS: I have no issues browsing the pc’s shared folders with my phone.

I found the topic which mentioned the Master browser, it seems like my router made itself Master. I changed the name workgroup and now it works!
