Why are Backups Nested?

I want to be able to plug in a USB Drive and have the root of that drive and everything on it mirrored/synchronized to the root of a Shared Folder on my DL4100.
In other words, what’s on the drive becomes what’s in the share and nothing else.

Instead, The root of the USB drive is being buried 3 levels deep within the share. Which makes the Backup function essentially useless, except for disaster recovery purposes…

Please tell me there is a way to alter this behavior.

You can try using the WD Sync app that will allow to synchronize the files on your PC to the drive.
