Needing help on botched W7 instaall - install does not see the drive

Bought a new WD Blue laptop drive, and attempted to install W7.  the install crashed.  New attempts to install, and now it only shows a X: drive with some of the botched W7 files.  How do I reformat and partition the drive using a CD.  I want to clean up the drive, have one large partition, and begin a clean install of W7.

Thks!

If you have an empty USB stick lying around, I’d recommend puting Hiren’s Boot CD on it.

It has lots of useful tools, including a live Windows system.

You can run various hard drive tests and/or (re)partition your drive from there.
