What hardware should I buy that would sync and store and back up all of my devices, Apple and Windows? Or what are the smart approaches to backing up and using both systems? I use Macs and PCs and would like to have some RAID system that would allow me to use them without having to change hardware.

If you want to use network drives, there are many options as per the storage capacities. You can go with My Cloud PR4100, available in larger storage capacity, also used to create backup of Mac and Windows.
