Need help with recovering My Passport data

So apparently Catalina won’t operate anything less than 64-bit and My Passport is 32-bit; all I keep seeing is I will have to reformat the drive BUT if I do that I lose all the data; I really don’t want to do that; how do I keep the data and then reformat so I can use this hard drive? It seems like it’s still a good drive with lots of space not to mention even if I just bought a new drive, I still can’t access data I want…namely photos that I would really hate to lose. PLEASE HELP!
