Need help with noise coming from Mybook 16tb

Hey, anyone able to help identify the noise heard at around 3 seconds into this clip? Voice 005.m4a - Google Drive ?

The noise is happening periodically every few minuets or so. There doesn’t seem to be anything accessing any of my drive that often and all smart data is coming back perfect. is it a normal sound? cause tbh it’s kind of driving me mad.

so smart is ok?
temprature?
what is hdd model?

Smart is all good, just yesterday passed a scan from stable bit scanner.

Temps at 34c

Model is a Elements 16tb WDC WD160EMFZ-11AFXA0

ok so 99% there is no problem,
Im already using hdd (for about 7 years) that make noises more than yours but its ok
check read and benchmark test too with sofwares like hd tune
and see results, if passed them its ok (listen to hdd sounds when is under read test and benchmark pressure)

There are numbers of different hard drive clicking sounds with different reasons. Some type of clicking noise are due to software or driver issues, some of them due to hardware issues, and sometimes due to mechanical faults of the hard drive.

Most of the times there are 4 probable causes for clicking noise of a hard drive:

  1. The insufficient power supply is a very common cause of noise in the hard drive. It mostly happens when you have connected multiple devices (including the HDD) to a single port.
  2. Physical depreciation of the hard drive which results from either simple issues or damage such as a physical shock or trauma.
  3. A hard drive may be failed due to the faulty data cables, or incorrect drivers installed.
  4. A crashed hard drive.

If there is a noise, then you can try the subsequent fixes which people have used to overcome the issue:

  1. Check whether the hard drive is getting enough power or not. You can do it by plugging the power adapter directly into the power supply.
  2. Replace the data cable with the new one and turn on the drive. Now, if it does not make any noise, then the data cable might be faulty.
  3. In case the drive still makes noises, then there is a high possibility the drive is failing and needs to be replaced.

Further, you can check the below link that explains all the measures to check the health of any hard disk:

Hope it will help.
