Need help! My EX4 keeps on creating too many Public, SmartWare and TimeMachineBackup Folders on Shares

How to make it stop? Everytime I remove one of the shares it will create more folders.

Hi, welcome to the community.

What version of the firmware you have on the drive? We have also passed this along to support,

im using firmware version 2.11.133

I am having the same problem “Again”. I also updated the firmware and when the reboot was complete the system had a total of 256 new copies of the default shares. I decided to completely restore my EX4 and put in two fresh 4TB WD Red Label drives. Everything looked good until today when the shares started multiplying once more. Worst part is that there doesn’t seem to be any way to delete them. The system goes through the process but nothing changes.

hello R_Hansen

try System Only Restore… it works for me as of now… im still observing it at the moment if it won’t come back…
i have my screenshot…

Thanks for the reply dennice. I did a full system restore and formatted all my drives the first time this happened. It worked great for about a week and then everything came back like before. Waiting for WD tech support to respond so I can get this unit RMA’d.
