NAS shown twice in my network

Very glad having my new NAS from WD. But…the NAS is shown twice in “my network” (so the lower part of the navigation pane in file explorer). It is shown with the same name and they are both accessible (to say I can access the shared maps in both). Tried a lot of regedit stuff etc, but no solution. It seems like the NAS is shown for example via Wifi and via thread. Is that possible ? And if not, how can I be sure the NAS is shown only once in my network on my cabled Desktop ? My NAS is connected to my router which brings over data via wifi to my laptop too (but there only shown once in the network of course > no thread). Hope someone recognizes this problem and knows the solution. Thanks in advance. Cor (Netherlands).

my printer does the same thing, its a network artifact due to the way services are categorized

Thnx Vegan.

Nevertheless very annoying >>

.

I realize it’s just a bad feeling, but…is there a solution ? NFS-service in my NAS is off, SMB2 and SMB3 (Samba ?) is on as is LLTD and FTP. Is there somthing to change in there ? As far as I can see there is no possibility to put uPnP off in my NAS (think it is on always ?).

Have you ever looked for a solution for your printer ? Or are you accepting the thing ?

are there multiple partitions on the NAS?

It’s 2 8TB drives in RAID-1.

I see smaller partitions so that is why multiple disks are appearing

Like to share this with you all. It looks like turning of the UPnP in my router did the job. Double mentioning of the NAS under network disappeared on both the desktop as the laptop after restarting my router. Et voila. On the other way. Turning on the UPnP anew does not cause the network message to be displayed again. But something has happened. Don’t know what. Will leave on my PC’s this night. Maybe I’m to confident and the double network message is back tomorrow. Will let you know tomorrow. Cross my fingers. And thank you for thinking with me upto now Vegan. Cor.

Sorry to say but the problem is still existing. Probably nothing to do with uPnP but someting within windows (SMB ?). De WD NAS uses SMB2/3. Is it possible there is a problem with that ? Looked in Windows > netwerk > sharing > changing windows components > support SMB 1.0/CIFS > putting all or some of the 3 possibilities on and off > there are changes in Networkdetection but my NAS is allways shown twice. As I said earlier on, very annoying and frustrating. Finding all sort of questions in fora about NOT finding a PC in the network, but never showing it twice. What’s wrong ? In which direction to search ?
