I just bought an N900 without realizing you could attach usb drives that can be shared. I also bought a my book live to go with it as WD suggests in their advertising. Not much more money but still. Is there any advantage to the Live vs Essentials when attached to this router other than transfer speeds? Are the usb ports really 2.0? Kind of odd for a new product. Thanks.
The USB storage through the router is going to be slower just via the USB 2.0 standard. My Book Live is taking advantage of Gigabit Ethernet. If you are looking to do manual back-up or just basic back-up to the USB storage, that should be OK. If you want the remote access or WD2Go app experience, I think My Book Live is the best product for that.
