N900 and USB Drive Failures

I have an N900 with a Toshiba Canvio Basics 3.0 1TB drive connected to the USB and the drive is unusable!

I can see the drive in Windows Explorer and everywhere else.

But, when I try to copy files using backup software or Windows Explorer, it does some files then the connection to the USB drive is lost and the process aborts.  Shortly the drive will be visible again and it stays that way until I try and copy files, then it goes away again.

I bought this router and I bought this USB drive to use as a backup system for my PCs for disaster recovery.

Now I’m stuck and pretty peeved.

Try to copy the files while the drive is connected directly to the computer just to make sure it is not a drive issue.

Thanks for the reply.

I have about 60 GB of files I transferred to the external USB drive while it was connected to my PC.

Then, I moved the USB drive to the router and no joy.
