N900: 5GHz Network has less coverage than 2.4GHz?

However, I noticed that when I’m downstairs (my router is upstairs) in a corner of my house away from the router, the 2.4GHz signal is stronger than the 5GHz. I don’t have actual values (will work on it this weekend) but on my laptop with the windows stock wireless tool I get 4 or 5 “bars” for 2.4Ghz and only 1 or 2 on 5GHz. This seems counterintuative so not sure what could be causing this?

Actually I’ll marked this as fixed but had to educate myself a bit to see that the 5Ghz networks actually do have less range than 2.4GHz for now.
