MyPassport disconnects / reconnects periodically

Hi,

Has anyone else encountered a problem with their MyPassport drive disconnecting/reconnecting randomly?

This started happening recently and it’s becoming quite annoying as I am using several VMs running off of the drive.

I’m positive it’s not my USB bus as I have 3 other WD drives connected to my laptop and they are just fine.

Should I contact WD Tech Support or is the drive on it’s way out?  Is there some sort of a firmware related fix I can try?

I think I may have found the problem after looking through some other responses.

It looks like it had to do with the power setting for USB.

I’ve updated it as stated in another post and I’m checking it now to see if that, in fact, resolved the issue.
