MyPassport been recognized but failed to access

Hi,

I bought my MyPassport 1TB not event 1 year but now encounter harddisk problem.

This is my 3rd external harddisk and suprise!!! this is my first time having harddisk problem.

OK, the problem is whenever I connected to my PC, it takes long time to appear on my computer. Only after I go to disk management (Right click my comp>Manage>DiskManagement)… after very long time reading then finally appear on my computer.

I tried connect to other PC, the same problem happen. So I tried to transfer some important files to my PC, guess what??? the transfer rate is slower… Takes 5-6 hrs for 700MB file which I think not normal for USB3.0. Finally it say transfer failed.

CONTAINMENT ACTION

  1. I tried to assign new letter (using disk management) as suggested by IT forum, but no changes.

  2. Perform drive test (both quick & complete) using WD utilities, result showed FAILED for both test.

I’m not sure… should I replace my HDD as I found it stiill can be recognized by my PC and I hope the data inside still can be saved.

I do instensive care for all my gadget/tech items and I am pretty sure this harddisk never fall

Forgot to mention that my passport is 1TB with 45% capacity has been used

Hello, the Passport might have data corruption problems, but first you can try using another USB cable or connecting the Passport to another PC. If the problem continues, run a DLG test to verify if the Passport has any hardware problems.
