MyPassport 1TB is only 40GB

I bought two brand new External Hard Drive and plugged them on my MacBook with OSX 10.9 an error appeared and since then I can only access 40GB of the drive …

I reformated the drive using the Apple Disk Utility but nothing changes …

I tried using the WD Quick Formatter / WS Drive Utilities and WD Firmware Updater but none of these tools detects that the MyPassport is plugged in …

I am aware of a problem with Mavericks and WD drive …

Anyone else experiencing the same problems ? Found a way out of this ?

Any advice about how to proceed ? I guess if only I’d plugged the drive into a Windows PC first it wouldn’t have messed up the drives ?

Hi, you should be able to use the Passport normally on Mac’s running Mavericks. On the Disk Utility app check if the Passport is divided on two volumes. If not, try running a repair. Check the link below for more information on how to correctly format the Passport and for the steps to run a test using Disk Utility.
