Hello,
I‘m using the MyCloud Home App on my iPad Pro (M1 - 2021).
There are some things I really find cumbersome about the functionality of the MyHome Cloud device and no matter what I do and research about my situation, I have not found a solution:
1.) The internal video player of the app is not even basic and does not have a video loop function (+ another missing tools inside the video player), which is why I want to open files via the VLC Player. However, it does not play the video/Images/audio files. As soon as I select a file and choose (via right click) „open in“, the vlc app opens, but the file does not play (see the screenshot - in this case a video file).
2.) Another reason why I want to use the vlc player: I want to access and stream MyCloud Home files to my iPad, but with the difference to temporary download selected files (so I don‘t experience „low quality/stream buffering“ If I‘m replaying music videos for examples). So for example I have created a folder of tutorial videos I want to „stream“ and watch and replay (often times in video loop functions).
I tried to use the files App from iPadOS where I can access to the MyCloud Home on the sidebar, and while - yes, I can „download“ files from the MyCloud Home - they would still stay downloaded locally on the iPad, which is not what I want because it is wasting unnecessary space on my internal drive. Also If I remove selected files afterwards, they get deleted from the MyCloud Home Device.
Ideally, I just want the selected files to be temporarily downloaded when used - i.e. made “available offline” for a short time (as is also possible with the desktop app on the PC) + just as said and desired the availability of other video functions such as “video loop”. However, as soon as I stop using the MyCloud Home app, close it or turn off the Ipad, I want these temporarily downloaded files to be deleted from the Ipad again.
I also tried to access the MyCloud Home files via the Network settings on the VLC App (iPad), but whatever I try, I only get shown an empty public folder. Plus, I tried to set up the Plex Media Server, which was actually working and I could access all the files. However, the function was blocked with a subscription payment barrier and was therefore not available to me. Taking out an expensive subscription just to be able to download my own files temporarily “offline” seems absolutely nonsensical to me, especially when you consider the purpose of a cloud you set up yourself.
So here I am - after weeks of trying to find an elegant solution to my problem. Any idea how to elegantly solve my problems?
